“Internet of Things (IoT) could still be nascent in India, but fast catching up. From desktop PCs to tablets, we have moved to the Next Unit of Computing (NUC). And there is good adoption for such complete Intel device,” its Director (Sales) for South Asia B Suryananan has said.
The microprocessor chip manufacturing major through Intel channel symposium is aiming to connect with Intel Technology Providers (ITPs) and highlight the growth opportunities, product roll outs and solution roadmaps.
“Such channel symposiums are being conducted in smaller towns and cities as we see better penetration and adoption in these markets,” he told Business Line.
At the symposium that Intel hosted in the city, the company showcased the latest range of desktops, mobile devices, servers, devices enabling IoT and security devices based on Intel processors.
‘With so many devices, one actually is not too sure how to use these. So, we conduct training sessions for ITPs to enhance customer experience and identify growth opportunities in their business,’ he said and added that the company is in talks with several users on using this (a small hand-held) computing device as a projector PC too’.
‘We are in talks with various governments to see how Intel could help the administration in surveillance and security among others, he said. The company had not firmed up any proposition yet, he added. “IoT would help build end to end infrastructure, including solutions to deal with traffic management, smart energy management, waste management and so on”, he explained.
Intel is aiming to reinvigorate, reinvent and remodel new usage and experience through such symposiums, he said.
The company’s focus on the IoT space includes digital signage, intelligent storage, point of sales and surveillance.
