Come July, and visitors to New Delhi’s Connaught Place business district will get free Wi-Fi connectivity from Tata DoCoMo for up to 30 minutes, thanks to a tie-up between Tata Teleservices Ltd and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). For further use, users in the 4 sq. km Wi-Fi hotspot can purchase data packs.
Tata DoCoMo already offers similar Wi-Fi hotspots at New Delhi’s domestic and international airports, Feroz Shah Kotla Cricket Stadium, hotels like Le Meridien, The Leela and Crown Plaza and Bluebells School International.
Several telecom operators provide Wi-Fi hotspots across the country. Vodafone India Ltdprovides Wi-Fi at Gurgaon’s Belvedere Rapid Metro Station, while Videocon Telecom has tied up with Huawei for hotspots in the Punjab circle. The Karnataka government has launched free Wi-Fi hotspots called Namma Wi-Fi at M.G. Road and Brigade Road and several other locations in Bangalore.
