Print Edit
Extension

Edit web pages prior to printing. Delete, hide and format elements. Remove adverts, sidebars and blank pages.
OVERVIEW

Print Edit allows editing of a web page before printing (or saving). Any element on the web page can be formatted, hidden or deleted. Unwanted content, such as adverts, sidebars and blank pages, can easily be removed.

Click on the Print Edit button to create a copy of the web page and show the Print Edit toolbar. Make any necessary adjustments to the web page before editing, for example, selecting a tab within the web page. Click 'Edit' button to begin editing the web page. Click 'Print' to see how the edited web page will look when printed.

On entry into edit mode, any active elements (such as animated graphics) are disabled and are shown as grey vertically striped blocks.

By default, the 'Web Style' feature is disabled, so that the page displayed in the Edit window looks similar to how the page would normally be displayed in the Print window. When the 'Web Style' feature is enabled, the page displayed in both the Edit and Print windows will look similar to how the page is displayed during normal browsing.

By default, the 'Text Pieces' feature is disabled, so that only whole blocks of text can be selected. When the 'Text Pieces' feature is enabled, individual pieces of text can be selected.

THINGS TO TRY

A common requirement is to print one block of text or one section of a document. The simplest way to do this is to select the block of text or section using the red highlight box, then click 'Delete Except' and choose 'Restricted'. To see if the other deletion methods would give better results, click 'Undo', then click 'Delete Except' again and choose 'Without Float' or 'Unrestricted'.

Another common requirement is to expand text blocks to fill the full width of the page. The simplest way to do this is to click 'Select' and choose 'All' to select the whole web page. Then click 'Format', click 'Fit To Content', tick 'Apply to sub-elements' and click 'OK'.
